South Africa

SUMMARY: I have spent a considerable amount of time in South Africa and seen +100 mammal species there. Mammal highlights include Riverine Rabbit, Spectacled Dormouse, Cape Dune Mole-rat, Bryde’s Whale, Haviside’s Dolphin, African Striped Weasel, Striped Polecat and Caracal.

I went to boarding school in the Eastern Cape (1979-1983), studied in Johannesburg (1984-988), worked in Barberton (1989-1992, as a geologist) and still regularly stay in the Western Cape.
